IVF Success Story — The Bowling Family

One couple shares how Fertility and Endocrine Associates helped them start a family

In 2010, Ellen Bowling and her husband decided they wanted to start a family. The couple tried for several months with no results.

Ellen made an appointment with Dr. Homm in the spring of 2011, and he recommended blood work for Ellen and a sperm analysis for her husband. The results of the sperm analysis showed male factor infertility.

During all of this, Ellen also was having some pain in her abdomen, which got worse as the weeks went on. Dr. Homm recommended she undergo an exploratory laparoscopy that July. The results of the procedure showed she had stage 4 endometriosis.

After surgery, Dr. Homm prescribed Lupron injections to suppress the endometriosis, which Ellen took for about four months. Then, in January 2012, the Bowlings decided to try their first cycle of in vitro fertilization. They were happy to find out it resulted in a successful pregnancy, and Ellen gave birth to their first daughter in September 2012.

The following September, the Bowlings used frozen embryos from their first IVF to do a frozen embryo transfer. Unfortunately, that ended in an early chemical pregnancy.

In November 2012, Ellen did a second IVF cycle, and it was successful. She gave birth to the couple’s second daughter in July 2014. And then, in May 2015, the Bowlings were surprised and overjoyed to learn that she was pregnant with their third child, who was born in February 2016.

“We absolutely loved everyone at Fertility and Endocrine Associates,” Ellen says. “During our IVF cycles and my pregnancies, I spent a lot of time at the office, and everyone was always so kind and caring. We cannot express our gratitude enough to Dr. Homm and Dr. Devine for giving us our three greatest blessings.”

We were thrilled to be part of this wonderful family’s fertility journey. Congratulations again, Ellen!
