Robert J. Homm, MD, FACOG
A leading specialist in women’s health for more than 30 years, Dr. Homm is double board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. His expertise also includes reproductive surgery, assisted reproductive technologies, immune aspects of endometriosis, hormone receptor research, and infectious diseases related to women’s health.
Early in his career, Dr. Homm was instrumental in making advanced fertility services available in Kentucky. In 1991, he helped found the state’s first private reproductive endocrinology/infertility practice in Lexington, then known as Women’s Specialty Center. Later renamed Fertility and Endocrine Associates, he expanded the practice to Louisville in 2005, when it was invited to be of the first practices in the Norton Women’s Pavilion, located on the campus of Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Homm also helped lead the founding of Kentucky’s first private in vitro fertilization lab. Now known as Louisville Reproductive Center, he has served as the Medical Director of the IVF lab since 1994.
A Louisville native and graduate of St. Xavier High School, he earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville, also completing his residency in obstetrics and gynecology there. Dr. Homm completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has served on faculty at UofL, USC and the University of Kentucky.
In addition to publishing journal articles on the causes and treatments of infertility, Dr. Homm has authored book chapters about complications during pregnancy and gynecologic issues related to female athletes. As one of the leading laser laparoscopic surgeons in the region, he often consults with other physicians who provide care to women with complex reproductive or gynecologic problems.
Dr. Homm is an active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, as well as local, state and national medical associations. He served on the advisory board of the Louisville RESOLVE chapter and is a charter member of the American Society of Andrology. Dr. Homm also serves as a consultant to health departments, nonprofit organizations that serve women and pharmaceutical companies that manufacture drugs for women.
He is an accomplished, entertaining and in-demand speaker on women’s health issues, and considers it an honor to give back to his community through both professional and patient education events.
Dr. Homm is an avid golfer and a skilled “fixer” of broken things. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising and following political news. He loves spending time with his two sons, four granddaughters and newest grandson, who is also his namesake.
Kit S. Devine, DNP, APRN
Dr. Devine has been a pioneer in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility alongside Dr. Homm for the past 17 years. As a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, she has dedicated her career to caring for women and their partners affected by infertility. She also has expertise in treating the full scope of women’s gynecologic issues, including many complex conditions.
Dr. Devine believes that all patients deserve excellent care and compassionate treatment in their quests to build their families and achieve the highest level of health possible. Her career includes experience as a labor and delivery nurse, and as a Nurse Practitioner in two general OB/GYN settings. She has also served on the nursing faculty at the University of Louisville and Bellarmine University, and has consulted with various agencies and organizations on vital women’s health issues.
Dr. Devine earned nursing degrees from Western Kentucky University and Bellarmine University. She went on to earn a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Bellarmine, with a clinical focus in care and women’s counseling, and was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
She is a member of various professional organizations, including the prestigious National Nurse Advisory Council for the March of Dimes. She has lectured on and published numerous articles on fertility and women’s health, and she has authored a nursing education module on infertility and assisted reproduction. She is an active member of ASRM and has served on the board of the Louisville RESOLVE chapter.
A native of Louisville, Dr. Devine enjoys playing golf, reading, walking and growing plants and flowers — herbs are her specialty. She also loves to spend time with her four grandsons, two of whom would not be here without the efforts of Fertility and Endocrine Associates. Dr. Devine is very proud to have been able to share the practice’s expertise with her own family!
Miriam S. Krause, M.D.
Dr. Krause is a leading specialist in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. Along with Dr. Homm, she is board certified in both specialities, which makes her uniquely qualified to address a diverse spectrum of women’s health and fertility issues. Few other physicians hold this distinction.
Dr. Krause has dedicated her career to improving women’s healthcare and growing families through the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options available. She believes each patient is unique, and works to find a customized solution for every family. Her patients will attest that she goes above and beyond to ensure the very best outcomes.
Dr. Krause completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, IL, and her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She is a highly regarded scholar on infertility, having presented her work at national and international conferences She is also a published author and editor on fertility topics, including surgical advances to treat infertility and uterine factors that affect a successful pregnancy.
Dr. Krause is an active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Reproductive Investigations and other local professional organizations. She is incoming chair of the Kentucky chapter for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for 2017-18.
In addition to fertility, Dr. Krause has special expertise in treating polycystic ovarian syndrome, uterine defects, issues with menstruation and complications from menopause.
A native of Germany, Dr. Krause decided to make Louisville her second home after meeting her husband, Tony, here. During her free time, Dr. Krause enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors, traveling and cooking German dishes. In addition to cultivating families, she also is an accomplished gardener, growing her own vegetables in the summer.
Neil R. Stoddart, PhD, HCLD
Fertility and Endocrine Associates are pleased to announce the appointment of Neil R. Stoddart, PhD, HCLD as Laboratory Director of the Louisville Reproductive Center. Dr. Stoddart is a native of Nottingham, England and a graduate of the University of Warwick, Coventry, UK. He received his PhD from the University of South Hampton, UK. He has been ART laboratory director and lead embryologist in IVF centers in the United States since 1998. He has demonstrated expertise in all aspects of embryology and andrology including sperm micromanipulation, laser-assisted hatching, trophectoderm biopsy, and cryopreservation of gametes and embryos. In addition, he has functioned as a CAP inspector and has experience in all laboratory accreditation processes. He is described by his colleagues as a “methodical, dedicated and serious scientist who has great warmth and dedication for patients undergoing the journey of fertility care”. Dr. Stoddart is available for consultation in all aspects of embryology and andrology and welcomes any calls or communications from other providers who may have concerns about their patients’ fertility issues.
