Renate Meier is a highly qualified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who is very excited to be joining the team at Fertility & Endocrine Associates where she is looking forward to working with a team whose values for evidence based, patient-centered and individualized treatment match her own.
Renate has a long-standing interest in not only the practice of reproductive endocrinology and infertility, but also its underlying science. Initially beginning her career in research, she earned a Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, subdiscipline Molecular Endocrinology from The University of Louisville School of Medicine in hopes of contributing to scientific advances in reproductive endocrinology. However, she realized that while she enjoyed research and the science of reproductive endocrinology and infertility, her true passion lay in bringing scientific advances into practice and wanted to play a more direct role in helping to grow families. As a result, she returned to school to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing completing the accelerated women’s health nurse practitioner program at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and she became board certified as a women’s health nurse practitioner. After graduating from Vanderbilt, she gained experience in generalist ob/gyn practice before joining the faculty practice at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where she specialized in management of PCOS and LGBTQ+ reproductive health. She earned the distinction of being the first nurse practitioner to join the multi-disciplinary PCOS specialty clinic where she worked within a team-based care model to improve the lives of individuals with PCOS.
Throughout her career, Renate has strived to use the latest scientific evidence and advances to help individuals achieve their best state of health, and in terms of reproduction, to build the family of their dreams. Her unique educational background has provided insights into the science of reproduction that have allowed her to excel at providing evidence-based care while also individualizing treatments to the individuals and couples she works with. Renate also passionately believes that her role as a healthcare provider is to educate and empower the individuals and couples she works with.
Renate is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine as well as several special interest groups including the Advanced Practice Professional Practice Group and the Androgen Excess and LGBTQ Special interest groups. She has also completed the ASRM Nurse Certificate Course in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
